What it means to be your brother’s keeper

Are you your brother or sister’s keeper?
Today’s first reading is the account of Cain’s murder of his brother and the spread of violence in the world. God asks him where Abel is, and Cain’s answer is asking God if he is his brothers’ keeper..

We are not our brother or sister’s keeper, but we are at least our brother or sister’s brother or sister.
