“When I grew up …” is the beginning of many stories among family and friends. One of my favorite stories of when I grew up was when we came together as a family at the table for a meal. With myself, six siblings and two parents; nine of us would gather around the table each evening to share in a meal and enjoy stories of the day. There were lessons to be learned, shared joys and sorrows, and unity as our family grew together over the years.
This weekend is the celebration of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ. We reflect on the Eucharist and its importance in our lives. Each Sunday the Catholic Church comes together at the table to share in the Eucharist. This meal makes us a community with those all over the world. We come together at this table to be nourished at the great banquet of his Body and Blood. We are united. It is in this unity that we learn lessons, share joys and sorrows, and stay focused on His love for us as we grow together in the family of God.
