In today’s gospel we learn that while Jesus was praying, “his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.” Then later in the reading, from a cloud, came a voice, “This is my Chosen Son; listen to him.” At that moment, the disciples who were present experienced the transformation of Jesus!
When have you experienced the transforming power of God’s love in your life? What was one moment when you knew that God has made you shine with his love, healing, forgiveness, and grace? Can we continue to be transformed?
God’s love started to shine through us at our birth and he continues to transform us throughout our life. Some of the ways we can be transformed by God is when we establish a relationship with him in prayer, when we are open to his forgiveness through Reconciliation, and sometimes by simply listening to his Word.
During the Lenten season we begin to see the transformation taking place in our RCIA Candidates and Catechumens. As we watch them prepare for their initiation into the Church, we can remember our own transformation during Eucharist and Confirmation. We rejoice as God’s love and power shines through us and we pray for those in the RCIA to see God’s love and power shine through them.
When we are transformed and shine with God’s grace others are better able to see God’s love, healing, and forgiveness. Let’s pray that our light shines in radiant glory and show others that Jesus is God’s Chosen Son!
