I am sure you have noticed the improvements made to our parking lot. New LED lighting has been installed, cracks in asphalt have been filled in, and the surface has been re-sealed and re-lined. The upgrades improve the appearance of our parish, making it a bit more inviting. (Hospitality begins in the parking lot!) The improvements are also economical and improve the safety on our parish grounds. The LED lighting uses only one eighth the energy of the former lighting, and is brighter. Due to the decreased energy cost, the new lighting will “pay for itself” in about three years. The improvements to the parking surface is in part preventative maintenance. Parking lots, especially those as large as ours, are expensive to maintain! We thank Business Manager Chris Kozlowski and the members of the Finance Council for their work in seeking and approving the contractors for the work (we require several bids), and for supervising the work itself.
It has now been fifteen years since our parish plant was renovated and enlarged. Things are getting old. We need to address maintenance needs, including the roof, the HVAC, and electrical and lighting in the worship space. We also need to do some painting. Since paying off the debt for the renovation, we have been slowly building up our savings in order to address these issues. However, our needs exceed our current resources. We are grateful for all you do to offer financial support for our parish. Special thanks to those who responded to our offertory increase campaign two years ago, and for your generous support of this year’s CSA.
At the approval of the Worship Commission, we have made a change to the times for Eucharistic Exposition. Exposition will be on Tuesdays following the 8:00 AM Mass until closing at 6:00 PM in the Resource Center. We will also have Eucharistic Exposition prior to Friday morning Mass, beginning at 7:00 AM. For liturgical correctness, due to the change to extended Exposition following Mass on Tuesdays, beginning in October, we will no longer have Exposition prior to Tuesday morning Mass. This Tuesday will be the last time we have Exposition prior to Mass on Tuesday mornings.
We remind you that Eucharistic Adoration can take place outside of Eucharistic Exposition. Prayer before the tabernacle, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, is also a form of Eucharistic Adoration. The worship space is open for such prayer every day from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Eucharistic adoration in either form is a powerful prayer, and I believe, can help all of us grow spiritually. We encourage you to come and participate.
God Bless You,
Fr. Ron
