The primary goal of Archbishop Vigneron’s “Unleash the Gospel” effort is to form all of us into “joyful missionary disciples.” At the heart of this mission is the need to help parents and families to form their children as “joyful missionary disciples,” a responsibility they took on when they asked to have their children baptized. Every parish is to do what they can to serve the parents and assist them in fulfilling this responsibility.
One of the ways our Faith Formation Ministry does this is through a program called “Discover Your Church.” This week, in place of the regular classroom Faith Formation sessions, the students’ entire families will join us on Monday through Wednesday evenings for a “Discover Your Church” session which will focus on ways to evangelize others in our day-to-day lives. Past “Discover Your Church” sessions have been very creative and helpful and have been well received by our parents. Please keep this program in your prayers this week. Parenting children in the faith is very challenging these days, and parents are in need of our prayers and assistance.
We also ask you to keep fifteen members of our Youth Ministry and their chaperones in your prayers as they participate in Rainbow XXXVIII next weekend. Rainbow is an annual retreat of the Archdiocese held in the Renaissance Center where upwards of two thousand high school students have a powerful spiritual experience and an enjoyable time interacting with each other. We thank all of you who have supported various Youth Ministry fundraisers to offset the costs of the retreat.
Lent is right around the corner! Please plan on joining us for Mardi Gras on February 25th, a great way for us as a parish to prepare for the Lenten Season.
Please remember to bring your old palm branches to church these next two weekends. We will burn them, and then use their ashes to be signed on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday.
Blessings,
Fr. Ron
