Fr. Ron’s Reflections: February 1, 2026

In December, I submitted a letter of resignation to Archbishop Weisenberger (as required of priests approaching their 75th birthday: I will be 75 next month), resigning my assignment as Priest in Solidum for our family of parishes. I also requested receiving Senior Priest status as of July 1, 2026. This week I was informed that my request has been granted.

Priests in our archdiocese can retire at age 70. I have stayed on for the past five years because I greatly love parish ministry, especially here at St. Isidore. Our parishioners and staff have been wonderful to me through these thirteen years. I am so grateful. For a priest, the parish is their family, and I will really miss being a part of this loving parish family. However, after much prayer and discernment, and discussing it with family and friends, I have concluded that it is time. Between my advancing age and injured leg I am having a difficult time “keeping up”. I am tired! St. Isidore parish deserves a younger, more energetic and dynamic priest. I will share more about this in the next few months.

Fr. Alex has been a blessing for our parish and a great help to me personally since being assigned to our Family of Parishes last July. It is difficult for me to navigate all the walking at hospitals and nursing homes in particular. Fr. Alex has graciously and prayerfully assisted with these visits and the celebration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. He has also helped in many other ways. I am so grateful to him and for him!

Blessings!
