As we draw closer to Easter, we are reminded that at the center of our prayer during Lent are the ten Catechumens and ten Candidates for Full Communion with the Catholic Church with whom we will be celebrating the Easter Sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
The Catechumens will be baptized, and the Candidates, already baptized Christian, will make a Profession of Faith, in which they profess that they believe what the Catholic Church teaches. They will all then celebrate Confirmation and First Holy Communion. Having completed the three Sacraments of Initiation, they will be full members of our worshiping community. Hopefully, many of our parishioners will join us at the Easter Vigil to welcome our new members.
Guided by the ministry of our Order of the Christian Initiation of Adults team, they have put much effort, time, and prayer during the past several months. This includes the celebration of three “Scrutinies” at our 9:30 Mass beginning last Sunday. They “scrutinize” their hearts so as to rid themselves of anything that would prevent them from following Jesus and living the Gospel values. We, on our part, purify our community in order to receive new members.
