K of C Knight and Family of the Year

At the end of each Fraternal Year, the K of C selects a Knight of the Year and a Family of the Year; very high honors within the council. This year’s award winners are great examples for the rest of our Brother Knights.

This year’s Knight of the Year spends a great deal of time doing volunteer work for the Church and the K of C. He organizes the donations during the Food Bag Drive, is a coordinator for the Adults with Disabilities Events, and is the Strawberry Festival Theme Basket Coordinator. He helps with the Rummage Sale and by serving the MCREST daily breakfasts. He is part of the Fish Fry Leadership Committee and helps with various K of C breakfasts and the highway cleanups. This year’s honoree as Knight of the Year is Scott Payton.

This year’s Family of the Year is very active in the Church. She is an Altar Society member, a palm weaver teacher, the FIT Team Leader, Worship Commission member, and a Lector; among other things. He developed the Tuesday Adoration at St. Isidore Church and ensures that someone is always there with our Lord. He is a very active member of the K of C working on the Pancake Breakfasts, MCREST Dinner, Fish Fry and our most recent Past Warden for our Council. Together they are Lead EMHC’s, work on the MCREST Breakfasts, Forgotten Harvest and Adults with Disabilities events, and Lector and EMHC for the Special Needs Mass. What a great married couple they are. This year’s honoree as Family of the Year is David and Karen Bisdorf.

Shown are Scott Payton receiving his plaque for Knight of the Year from Grand Knight Chijioke Oparji at the September General Membership Meeting and David and Karen Bisdorf receiving their plaque for Family of the Year from the Grand Knight at the Council Picnic in August. Congratulations and thank you to them for their efforts!
