Power in Prayer, January 5, 2025

“But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.'” (Luke 10:5)

Suggested Prayer: House blessing for the New Year

Bless, O Lord God Almighty, this home, that there may be health, purity, the strength of victory, humility, goodness and mercy, the fulfillment of your law, the thanksgiving to God the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. And may this blessing remain upon this home and upon all who dwell herein.

Suggested Activity: Chalk blessing on Feast of Epiphany, Jan. 6. (See DID YOU KNOW? article below.)

Catholic House Blessing
20 + C + M + B + 25

On the Feast of the Epiphany, Jan. 6th, you can choose to chalk the outside of the house or above the front door with the letters C+M+B and the current year (see above). The letters stand for the Latin words Christus Mansionen Benedicat, which means “May Christ bless this dwelling.” The letters also represent the names of the three Magi, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar. The plus sign or cross represents the cross, and the year represents the New Year. Leave the markings on the door all year.
