Suggested Prayer: Lord Jesus, let my heart never rest until it finds You, who are its center, its love, and its happiness. By the wound in Your heart pardon the sins that I have committed whether out of malice or out of evil desires. Place my weak heart in Your Own Divine Heart, continually under Your protection and guidance, so that I may persevere in doing good and fleeing evil until my very last breath. Amen. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
Suggested Activity: The Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion is one of the most popular devotions in the Catholic Church. Some images show the Sacred Heart alone and some radiant in Jesus’ chest. Jesus’ Heart is exposed, for He has poured Himself out for us and desires that we enter into His Most Loving Heart. The crown surrounding the heart recalls both His kingship and the crown of His Passion. The fire represents the burning flame of Divine love and essence of His Divinity. The lance wound and blood and water reminds us that Jesus shed every last drop of blood for our sakes as our Passover Lamb sacrificed for our sins. When you honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus; meditate also on its profound symbolism and on Christ’s burning love for you.
