Each year S.I.T.E. conducts fundraising to support retreats and activities but also organizations where the teens want to make a difference. For 2021 the following two organizations will receive $500 each: She’s the first and the Tim Tebow Foundation. She’s the first was specifically added while the Tim Tebow Foundation was chosen to help fight human trafficking. Some info about these two organizations:
• She’s the first: Millions of girls worldwide are denied their rights. This is unacceptable.
We believe that local organizations are best positioned to serve girls in their communities, yet they are significantly under-resourced. That’s why we exist: She’s the First teams up with grassroots organizations to make sure girls everywhere are educated, respected, and heard.
• Tim Tebow Foundation: For the last decade, the number of individuals trapped in the vicious industry of human trafficking has increased with every passing year.* It is estimated that as many as 40 million people in the world today are being bought and sold as modern-day slaves. Women, children, and even men are being captured, exploited, and abused on a daily basis in every country around the world.
The statistics are staggering. Human trafficking generates $150 billion worldwide, with the United States leading all other countries demand. Roughly 70% of victims worldwide are female. 25% are children. They have been identified in every single US state, and more than ever are reaching out for help.**
These numbers are just a few of the overwhelming many, and they are only rising. But hope is not lost. Now is the time that the fight for the lives of these 40 million is now a rising concern for organizations, churches, and leaders across the globe. The Tim Tebow Foundation is committed to advancing this fight for the lives of those who have been trafficked or who are at risk of becoming victims. Though the Foundation has served in this space for years, we are burdened to go deeper.
At TTF, we believe every human being is uniquely and perfectly created by God in His very own image. We believe that God has a plan and a purpose for every single person upon the earth which is designed to be reflective of the true beauty and freedom found in Him alone. Human trafficking is an offense to the sanctity of human life. It is not only a crime; it is pure evil. We believe it is on all of us to confront this global atrocity, and fight like never before for the millions desperately in need of true healing and hope.
