St. Isidore’s Rosary Makers

Have you ever wanted to get involved and share your faith with others but time and availability are an issue?  Look no further!  St. Isidore’s Rosary Makers might just be the ministry for you.  While answering our Blessed Mother’s call to spread the rosary, the flexibility of making them in your own home, when your schedule permits, is a win-win.

The Rosary Makers have been a part of St. Isidore’s family since 2005.  There are currently 30 members comprised of both parishioners and non-parishioners, male and female, of all ages.   All are welcome.  Our goal is to provide as many rosaries as we can, each month, to the various groups that have requested them.  We provide rosaries to our U.S. soldiers around the world, nursing homes, hospitals, charitable organizations, and missionaries, etc.  The Rosary Makers have provided 8,081 rosaries so far this year, and a grand total of 170,202 rosaries since 2005!

The typical cadence of making the rosaries and meetings is:  volunteers make rosaries in their home (using cord or twine), turn them in at the next meeting where they can replenish their supplies, receive updates/news, offer prayers for various people and issues, instruct new members on the process of making rosaries, and help out with any remaining tasks that need to be accomplished to complete the rosaries.  The Rosary Makers Coordinator, Eileen Nowak, then packs and sends the finished rosaries to various groups and organizations in Michigan, around the USA, and in other countries.   (Due to work schedules or health issues, members who are not able to attend meetings may drop off and pick up supplies from the leader, Eileen Nowak, at her home in Macomb Twp., MI.)  The group tries to accommodate all members in their efforts to make as many rosaries as possible each month for people who want them.  The need is big. There is no charge to anyone or any group requesting rosaries, this is due to the amazing financial support we receive from:  St. Isidore Altar Society, St. Isidore Knights of Columbus Council, Lesnau Printing Company, and personal donations.

Anyone interested in becoming a part of The Rosary makers may simply join one of our monthly meetings at 9:00 AM, typically on the first Tuesday of each month (except in weeks where there is a holiday and the meeting is then moved to the following Tuesday).  Meeting dates are normally published in the St. Isidore Church Bulletin under the Parish Calendar section.  The meetings are held in the Executive Conference Room of the St. Isidore Parish Offices.  Alternatives for anyone interested in joining but are unable to attend the regular meetings can contact Eileen Nowak, by leaving your name and number with the St. Isidore Parish Office (586-286-1700).

All are welcome.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 10 at 9 AM.  Feel free to come and check us out!
