Thursday, December 8th, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This week is also the feast day of St. Juan Diego. Juan Diego saw the Blessed Virgin Mary at Tepeyac Hill in Mexico on December 9, 1531. She first appeared to him when he was on his way to Mass and introduced herself as the “ever perfect holy Mary, who has the honor to be the mother of the true God.” She appeared to him two more times and during the last her image was imprinted on his cloak which has been preserved perfectly since 1531. She is now known as Our Lady of Guadalupe and is patron of Mexico and the Americas. December 12th is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
