St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul update for December 22, 2024

“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”
– St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

SVDP not only helps people in poverty with food, bills or clothing, additionally, they are good friends and listeners. People need someone to talk to about their problems. They shoulder the burden of caring for themselves and their family on their own. Please take time during this Christmas Season to consider those around you. Remember, every small act of kindness counts, and listening is one of the most powerful ways to show compassion. By taking the time to connect with those who are struggling, we can truly embody the spirit of the Holy Season and reflect the love of Jesus in our actions.

We are so very grateful to our St. Isidore community who volunteer their time, listen to the call for help, donate food/paper/wellness, and cash support. Thank you!

As we replenish our pantry, our needs are:

  • Cash Donations – Blue Envelopes at Church entrances
  • $25 Gift Cards – Walmart, Meijer, Kroger
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Pump Hand Soap
  • Toilet Paper
  • Deodorant (unscented if possible)
  • Helpers – Hamburger, Tuna
  • Mashed Potato Pouches
  • Soups – Progresso, Chunky, Tomato
  • Frosting

Christmas Prayer: Come, Lord Jesus, and erupt with great joy into our world. Show us the wide-eyed, wondrous awe of this creation – fully alive around us, among us, between us, and within us!

Merry Christmas!
