Pope Francis, in his September 2019 apostolic letter, Aperuit illis (“Opened to them”), established each Third Sunday in Ordinary Time as the Sunday of the Word of God that is to be “devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the Word of God” (3). The Holy Father encourages faith communities to give the book(s) of sacred texts places of honor where we can all call to mind the importance of Sacred Scripture in our lives.
Our Book of the Gospels used at Mass will be on display near the font as we remind ourselves of our Baptism entering church for the celebration of Mass this weekend.
