Thoughts on the Transfiguration

We all have desire to be light to others, to be kind, compassionate and gentle.  Yet, that desire can often be too easily squelched by moments when we react out of anger, frustration, fear and negativity.

Our inherently narcissistic self too easily rears its’ ugly head in unfettered reaction.  How can we get to that holier place where we take a breath and count to ten, remembering that the relationship, whether with a family member, friend or even with a total stranger, is far greater than any imperfect moment of interaction.

My prayer for this week: Lord Jesus, your awesome love brings freedom, forgiveness and joy.  Transform my heart to reflect your love so that nothing may make me lose my temper, corrupt my peace, steal my joy or make me bitter towards anyone.
