Acting out of faith rather than fear

The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord

Fr. Ron begins today by asking what you are most afraid of right now. Some fear is necessary for survival but too much is not good and can cause us to act irrational. It is not good to act out of that fear.

In today’s gospel for the Annunciation, the angel Gabriel tells Mary to not be afraid. Mary responds to God’s call not out of fear but out of faith which Mary does.

Mary was probably fearful quite a bit, but she never acted out of that fear, but rather in God’s love. Because of that she was able to stand by Jesus with love. We, like Mary, need to act of of faith and love rather than fear.
