Ambitious? Oh, yes!
Dedicated? Without a doubt.
Driven? That’s right.
Successful? Unbelievably!
MEET THE 19: Shannelle, Kelly, Brooke, Mermain, Pam, Tori, Emily, Samiya, Allie,Sadia, Janell, Jenna, Fatimah, Kayla, Victoria, Mellisa, Liana, Kelsey, and Eden.
The nineteen lovely ladies are students at MCCC (Macomb County Community College). Their requirement for graduation was to complete a project together that reflected their major: Early Childhood Development.
In September of this year, they worked together on researching agencies that would qualify, and selected 12 possible places they could help. After visiting our baby pantry and getting all their questions answered, the St. Isidore Baby Pantry was chosen!
They contacted us and we discussed what and how things were to be done. All parties agreed to the action plan they had to submit to their professor. After getting approval from the professor, they charged forward with their mission: To collect and donate baby and infant necessities (based on our recommendations) to the St. Isidore Baby Pantry.
One of their dominating goals was to work together as a team. They did it and have become lifelong friends! Every girl had an agreed upon task to complete.
They started their mission with a flyer which advertised “National Diaper Need Awareness”. They had other well-designed flyers which they put everywhere: stores, offices, churches, etc. They set us a website that used Amazon to allow people to send donations to them online. They utilized social media to get the collection drive known. Donation boxes were placed where those who had jobs were permitted to do so (schools, child care centers, hospitals, etc.). They contacted the local Macomb Chronicle newspaper and had their story written and a photo included.
This past Tuesday, they packed up 10 cars, and drove here. We received a Massive donation of over 400 (maybe closer to 500) items for our pantry: Formula, Goodnites, diapers, pull-ups, wipes, ointment, lotion, baby wash, appropriate food for infants, and books.
They were successful beyond belief. Over-the-top successful. There is no adequate way to thank them enough. We are eternally grateful and our hearts are filled with love for these girls. Please, keep these wonderful ladies in your prayers as they graduate and continue the blessed dedication of their talents and time to helping others.
