Many of us have difficulty dealing with unpleasant situations. We look for ways to avoid confrontations and conflict. In today’s Gospel, and over the past few weeks, Jesus challenged his disciples and not many could accept it. Can we?

In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we have the analogy of Christ’s love for his Church. It’s like the love of a married couple. Both involve sacrifice. A husband is expected to sacrifice for his wife. Jesus provided the ultimate example of sacrifice by dying on the cross.

We are asked daily to “seek to outdo each other in showing kindness”.If we began each day with this thought in mind, think how you could change the world. Think how it would change your relationships with others.
